Hyderabad, April 1 -- Telangana Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao has announced that urgent measures have been initiated to support turmeric farmers who suffered losses due to unseasonal rains and strong winds.
He stated that officials have been instructed to procure moisture-affected turmeric without any deductions and to ensure full weight is considered during procurement. On Tuesday, March 31, the minister held a review meeting at the Secretariat regarding turmeric procurement.
Speaking on the occasion, he said, "A large quantity of turmeric is arriving at the Nizamabad Agricultural Market Yard. Due to heavy winds and rains on Monday midnight, around 7,080 turmeric heaps belonging to approximately 3,450 farmers were affected...
