Hyderabad, Oct. 24 -- Members of civil society groups gathered in large numbers at Tank Bund on Saturday, October 24, to form a human chain demanding the rollback of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

The protesters raised slogans against SIR, CEC Kumar, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Economist Parakala Prabhakar said the government has denotified Jantar Mantar as a protest site, but wherever objections to SIR are expressed in the country, it becomes Jantar Mantar.

"Are you trying to denotify every town in this country? Are you trying to denotify every person in the country," he said to reporters.
