Hyderabad, Aug. 21 -- The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Panchayat Secretary while allegedly accepting a bribe on Friday, August 21.

The accused, J Varalaxmi, was serving as the panchayat secretary of the Lingayipalli village in Jannaram mandal, Mancherial district.

She allegedly demanded a bribe for granting permission to construct a house and for assigning a house number to the property in Lingayipalli village.

Varalaxmi had initially demanded Rs 20,000 but later agreed to accept Rs 13,000, ACB said.

She did not accept the bribe amount in cash and instead instructed the complainant to transfer the amount through PhonePe to another panchayat secretary named Lavanya.
