Bengaluru, June 17 -- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is set to transform highway maintenance across the country by adopting a technology-driven Predictive Asset Management Framework that uses Artificial Intelligence (AI), drones and advanced data analytics to identify road defects before they become major safety hazards.

The initiative aims to shift from reactive repairs to proactive maintenance by detecting potholes, cracks and structural weaknesses at an early stage. According to NHAI, the new framework will help improve road quality, extend the lifespan of highway infrastructure and reduce long-term maintenance costs.
