Monsoon boosts water levels in Karnataka's major reservoirs
Bengaluru, Aug. 23 -- Continued monsoon rainfall across Karnataka has improved inflows into several major reservoirs, with water levels showing a steady rise in the Cauvery, Krishna, Sharavathi and Bhadra river basins.
The increased storage is expected to benefit irrigation and drinking water requirements as the rainy season progresses.
The Almatti reservoir is among the major dams nearing its maximum level. The water level stood at 519.47 metres against the full reservoir level of 519.60 metres. The reservoir was receiving an inflow of 30,026 cusecs, while 24,158 cusecs were being released.
At the Krishnaraja Sagar reservoir in Mandya, the water level was 108.48 feet against its maximum of 124.80 feet. The inflow was 1,367 cusecs and ...
