Hyderabad, March 27 -- Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) has alleged that the takeover of the Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd (HMRL) from the Larsen & Toubro was being done to gain control of over 280 acres of land leased to the company, which the state government intended to give it to its near and dear ones.

Speaking towards the end of the assembly's session on Thursday, March 26, KTR alleged that it was a larger plan of the state government to intimidate L&T, which was also the agency for constructing the Medigadda Barrage under the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme (KLIS).
