Iran closes western airspace amid reports of possible US military action
Hyderabad, May 23 -- Iran imposed new airspace restrictions on Saturday, May 23, the 85th day of the American-Israeli war on Iran, as reports suggested the Trump administration is reviewing military options against Tehran.
A Notice to Air Missions (NOTAM), identified as OIIX A1010/26, announced the closure of airports across the western section of the Tehran Flight Information Region, with only a limited number of facilities permitted to operate during daylight hours.
The restrictions are expected to remain in place until Monday, May 25, with airlines required to seek fresh approval from Iran's Civil Aviation Authority before operating passenger flights in affected areas.
