How Bollywood movies are rife with anti-Muslim plots
Hyderabad, Sept. 14 -- Filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia has raised concerns over the growing Islamophobia in Indian society, saying that it has also found its way into Hindi cinema. He made the remarks while speaking at the Editors Guild of India's Rajendra Mathur Memorial Lecture in New Delhi on September 4, 2026.
Dhulia said that filmmakers are part of the same society where anti-Muslim propaganda has grown like a cancerous growth. He elaborated that the changing social and political climate has also reshaped the stories being told on screen.
