Hyderabad, Sept. 3 -- The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has directed the closure of all slaughterhouses and retail meat and beef shops within the corporation's limits on September 4, in view of Janmashtami.

A notice has been issued under Section 533(b) of the GHMC Act, 1955.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan has requested the Commissioners of Police to extend full cooperation to the municipal authorities in enforcing the closure of all meat shops.
