Coimbatore, Oct. 25 -- A 16-year-old government-aided school Dalit boy who dreamt of becoming a lawyer succumbed to caste discrimination by his classmates in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore district.

On October 21, the teenager was found dead by his mother in Peelumedu. There was no suicide note. A case under abetment of suicide and voluntarily causing hurt, along with provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, has been registered.

The student's class teacher, P Vijayakumar and Headmaster Arun Kumar were arrested. Two of his classmates, named in the case, are being questioned.
