Kalaburagi, June 12 -- A major tragedy was narrowly averted at a Government Girls Pre-University College in Kalaburagi after a portion of the classroom ceiling plaster suddenly collapsed on students attending lessons. The incident left five students injured and has once again raised serious concerns about the safety of government educational infrastructure in the region.

According to officials, more than 80 first-year PUC Commerce students were present inside the classroom when the incident occurred on Thursday morning. A lecturer had just begun teaching when a section of the ceiling plaster unexpectedly gave way and crashed onto the students seated below.
