Hyderabad, Sept. 13 -- The Telangana State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has directed Apollo Hospital Enterprises Limited in Jubilee Hills to pay over Rs 43 lakh to the family of a 53-year-old man who died after suffering a stroke in 2013.

The Commission found the hospital responsible for negligence in the patient's treatment and partly accepted a complaint filed by his wife, son, and daughter. The family had sought compensation of Rs 1 crore.

Apollo Hospital has been ordered to pay Rs 40,11,876 as compensation for medical negligence. Additional amounts are Rs 1 lakh for loss of estate, Rs 1 lakh for poor maintenance of medical records, Rs 1 lakh for loss of consortium and paternal affection, and Rs 25,000 towards legal expense...
