India, Sept. 15 -- Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has achieved a major milestone in the Rishikesh-Karnprayag New BG Rail Line Project with the final breakthrough of Escape Tunnel-1 on September 11, 2026. The achievement marks the project's 41st tunnel breakthrough, bringing the ambitious Himalayan railway project another step closer to completion.

Escape Tunnel-1 is now fully connected along its entire 10.847-km length, making it the second-longest tunnel in the project. The breakthrough represents a significant engineering achievement given the difficult geological conditions encountered during construction across the Himalayan terrain.
