India, Aug. 29 -- Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep grief over the death of Norway's King Harald V, who passed away at the age of 89 on Friday. Modi conveyed his condolences to the Norwegian Royal Family and the people of Norway, recalling his meeting with the monarch during his visit to the country earlier this year.

Modi said he was touched by King Harald's warmth and strong sense of service to Norway. During the Prime Minister's two-day visit to Norway in May, Harald had conferred on Modi the country's top honour, the Grand Cross of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit.
