India, April 15 -- On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Delhi Dehradun Expressway, a big infrastructure project that will improve transportation between the national capital and Uttarakhand.
The 210-km economic corridor, which cost 11,868 crore to build, should cut the time it takes to get from Delhi to Dehradun from about 6.5 hours to just 2.5 hours. The new expressway also makes the distance between the two cities shorter, from 235 km to 210 km.
The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed in Dehradun, where many people came out to see him during a roadshow, waving the Tricolour and chanting slogans in support. Women and children in traditional clothes lined the streets to welcome him.
