India, July 31 -- The Income Tax Department on Friday said that more than 5.5 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) have been filed for Assessment Year (AY) 2026-27, with over 42 lakh returns submitted on July 30 alone. Taxpayers eligible under the July 31 deadline have been urged to complete the filing process promptly and reconcile their financial records before submission.
