India, July 20 -- Indian Cities Find Smart Ways To Save Rainwater
The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs joined forces with the National Institute of Urban Affairs to hold a national meeting with 75 cities. These cities run the Shallow Aquifer Management program under the AMRUT plan, which is part of the country's Catch the Rain campaign. The program helps cities save water in shallow underground pools so they don't run dry.
During the meeting, city leaders talked about their work. They shared their progress and successful ideas, showing how they refill underground water to keep water supplies safe. The program uses science and expert advice to help cities guide rainwater into the ground.
