India, March 13 -- Coal production from captive, commercial and other mines in India crossed the 200 million tonnes (MT) mark on March 11 in FY26, according to the Ministry of Coal.
Captive and commercial coal mines accounted for 194.17 MT of the total output, while other mines contributed 6.06 MT, taking the combined production beyond the historic 200 MT milestone.
The sector also surpassed the entire FY25 production level of 197.32 MT on March 7, achieving the milestone 24 days earlier than the previous year. Overall production during the period recorded a year-on-year growth of 10.56%.
