India, Aug. 4 -- The Centre has increased windfall taxes on exports of petrol, diesel and aviation turbine fuel (ATF) with immediate effect amid volatile global crude oil prices. The move aims to protect domestic fuel supplies and respond to market fluctuations driven by geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.

Windfall tax on petrol exports increased to 3.5 per litre. Diesel export duty raised to 25.5 per litre from 15.5 per litre. ATF export duty hiked to 22 per litre from 14.5 per litre.
