India, May 29 -- The minister described the achievement as a major boost to India's renewable energy ambitions, stating that the scheme is helping households reduce electricity expenses, promote energy self-reliance and support environmental sustainability.

Sharing the update on social media, Puri said the initiative, launched under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is positioning India as a growing solar power leader while empowering citizens through clean energy adoption.

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal also highlighted the programme's impact, noting that more than 40 lakh families have adopted rooftop solar systems under the scheme.
