India, Aug. 5 -- The Department of Consumer Affairs has invited applications for Government-Approved Test Centre (GATC) recognition to strengthen India's legal metrology ecosystem. The initiative aims to expand verification capacity, improve access to testing services, and support industry compliance through a fully digital application process.

Key Highlights Applications for GATC recognition open from August 17-31, 2026. Eligible institutions include labs, industries, engineering colleges, polytechnics and ITIs.
