India, May 5 -- The government on Sunday dismissed reports suggesting a redesign of Aadhaar cards into a simplified format, stating that no such proposal is under consideration. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology termed the claims misleading and cautioned against the spread of unverified information.

In an official statement, the ministry said reports indicating that Aadhaar cards could soon feature only a photograph and QR code are incorrect and have led to unnecessary public confusion.

Citizens have been advised to rely solely on verified updates from the Unique Identification Authority of India and official releases issued through PIB, while media outlets have been urged to avoid amplifying speculative claims.
