India, March 19 -- The Government of India on Thursday issued an alert over rising instances of cyber fraud linked to LPG bookings, with fraudsters circulating malicious files such as "GAS BILL UPDATE APK" via platforms like WhatsApp to target consumers.

Authorities cautioned users against downloading or installing suspicious applications, warning that such files could enable unauthorised access to personal data and bank accounts. Consumers have been advised to rely exclusively on official platforms for LPG bookings and transactions.
