India, Oct. 6 -- Coal India Ltd (CIL) recorded a 7.6% rise in coal supplies to 384.2 million tonnes (MT) during the first half of FY 2026-27, compared with 357 MT during the same period last year. The government-owned mining major reported stronger momentum in the second quarter, with coal offtake rising 12.05% to 186.04 MT.

Coal supplies also strengthened in September, reaching 61.20 MT, up 12.5% from 54.40 MT a year earlier. CIL attributed the improvement to enhanced evacuation, better coordination between production and dispatch, and increased utilisation of pithead stocks. The company liquidated around 63 MT of accumulated pithead coal stocks during the first half.
