Centre Grants 4-Month Extension to Renewable Projects Delayed by West Asia Crisis
India, Aug. 25 -- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has advised states and power sector public sector undertakings to grant up to four months' extension to renewable energy projects affected by disruptions linked to the West Asia situation. The relief will be considered under force majeure provisions contained in power purchase agreements (PPAs).
The advisory covers projects whose scheduled supply or commissioning dates, including previously extended dates, fall on or after February 28, 2026. Renewable Energy Implementing Agencies such as SECI, NTPC, NHPC and SJVN, along with state and Union Territory authorities, may grant extensions to Scheduled Commencement of Supply Date or Scheduled Commissioning Date.
