CBG Price Hike: Govt Says Impact on CNG, PNG Users Negligible
India, Aug. 29 -- The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has rejected concerns that the revised CBG procurement price under the GOBARdhan Scheme will significantly increase costs for CNG and household PNG consumers. The ministry said such assessments are based on inconsistent assumptions about how the revised pricing mechanism works.
Under the revised framework, the CBG procurement price is Rs 2,110 per MMBtu, around 43% higher than the prevailing effective price of approximately Rs 1,478 per MMBtu. However, the government said this is the price paid to CBG producers and is not directly charged to CNG or PNG consumers.
