India, Aug. 28 -- Beneficiaries of the Odisha government's Subhadra scheme received the fifth instalment of financial assistance (Rs 5,000) in their bank accounts on the occasion of Rakhi Purnima on Friday.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi launched the disbursement at Lathipada in Nayagarh district. A total of Rs 5,160 crore was transferred through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the accounts of around 1.03 crore beneficiaries across the state.

This instalment also includes 2.21 lakh new beneficiaries who have been added to the scheme.

Officials and representatives of the concerned banks had earlier been directed to complete the DBT process within the stipulated time. They were also asked to strengthen banking arrangements and take ...
