India, Aug. 29 -- A firing incident in Burla of Odisha's Sambalpur district left a 36-year-old man dead on Saturday, with police detaining the accused and seizing the weapon allegedly used in the crime.

The deceased has been identified as Md. Anish. According to preliminary information, Anish sustained multiple gunshot injuries, with reports indicating that he was shot three times near Kirba Chowk in Burla.

Police said the preliminary investigation suggests that the incident stemmed from a personal dispute and a longstanding grievance between the individuals involved. The accused, identified as Raja Swami of Mangala Bazar in Jharsuguda, has been detained at Burla Police Station.
