India, July 12 -- A woman delivered a baby girl on a tractor while being taken to a hospital after an ambulance allegedly failed to reach her village due to poor roads in Odisha's Kalahandi district.

The incident took place in Jayapatna area of Kalahandi last night.

As per reports, Urmila Majhi, the wife of Domu Majhi of Dabirighati village under Amalabhatta panchayat, complained of labour pain at around 11.30 pm last night.

Her family members immediately contacted an ambulance to admit her to a hospital at Maidalpur in neighbouring Nabarangpur district.
