India, July 8 -- Odisha Vigilance on Tuesday arrested Satyajit Rout, Deputy Director (Geology)-cum-Deputy Director of Mines, Jeypore, Koraput district, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 2 lakh from a leaseholder.Odisha Local Directory

According to Vigilance officials, Rout had allegedly demanded the bribe to grant an extension after the expiry of a sand lease period and to facilitate future benefits in spot auctions of sand sources.

Acting on a complaint, Odisha Vigilance laid a trap and apprehended Rout while he was allegedly accepting the bribe. The entire tainted amount of Rs 2 lakh was recovered from his possession and seized.History
