India, July 28 -- Bringing global recognition to Odisha, Dr. Subham Sahoo, a native of Bamra in Sambalpur district, has been selected for the prestigious Richard M. Bass Outstanding Young Power Electronics Engineer Award 2026, becoming the first Indian to receive the honour.

The internationally acclaimed award recognises exceptional achievements in the field of power electronics by engineers under the age of 35. Instituted in 1999, the award commemorates Richard M. Bass of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, USA, and is regarded as one of the highest recognitions for young researchers in the discipline.
