India, Sept. 29 -- Police have arrested a school teacher in Odisha's Balangir district for allegedly sending objectionable messages to a girl student of the educational institution.

The incident was reported from a government school at Limpada under Sindhekela police station limits in Titlagarh block.

According to the complaint, the accused teacher, identified as 28-year-old Teker Singh Majhi of Badpatrapali village, began sending objectionable messages to a Class X girl student a few months ago.

The teacher telephoned the girl repeatedly and asked her to meet him alone in the school library. When she refused, he assaulted her, the complaint stated. The girl initially remained silent out of fear.
