India, March 11 -- A man allegedly killed a seven-year-old girl after raping her in Odisha's Sundargarh district. The victim's body was recovered from a forest today.

The police have detained the accused and launched a probe into the incident. The minor girl went missing from her home on March 9, reports said.

The accused reportedly lured the minor girl to a forest near Rajgangpur and raped her.

He later killed the victim by smashing her head with a stone after she threatened to reveal the incident to her family members.

The accused allegedly hid the body under a large stone and fled the spot.

The incident came to light when the police interrogated the accused by suspecting his role in the disappearance of the minor girl.
