Odisha: Vigilance court sentences retired Medical Officer to 3 years in jail for bribery
India, Sept. 2 -- In a significant judgement, a Vigilance court in Odisha on Wednesday sentenced a retired Medical Officer to three years' imprisonment in a bribery case.Odisha Travel Guide
Additional Special Judge, Bhubaneswar, convicted Dr Kedarnath Pal, former Medical Officer of Madhyakhand PHC in Nayagada district, and sentenced him to three years in jail. The court also imposed a fine of Rs20,000 on him.
Dr Pal was charge-sheeted by the Odisha Vigilance under Section 13(2) read with Sections 13(1)(d) and 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a staff member of Madhyakhand PHC for disbursal of a HUDCO loan.
