India, Aug. 28 -- The police have arrested a Sarpanch in Odisha's Kendrapara district on charges of hurling abuses at a woman doctor and threatening her.

The accused has been identified as Bhagabat Behera, the Sarpanch of Marshaghai panchayat in Kendrapara.

As per reports, Behera had allegedly hurled expletives at the woman doctor, posted at the Marshaghai Community health Centre (CHC), on Thursday.

The Sarpanch had also threatened to kill the woman doctor after she raised an objection. The victim had lodged a complaint in this regard with police.

On the basis of the complaint, the Marshaghai police arrested the accused Sarpanch on Friday, reports said.
