India, May 31 -- A newlywed woman allegedly attempted suicide by jumping into the Mahanadi River from the Mahanadi Bridge on the Sonepur-Sambalpur road on Sunday.

She was rescued by fire services personnel and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to officials, the woman fell into the river after jumping from the bridge. Passersby who witnessed the incident immediately alerted the Sonepur Fire Services team, which rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.

The woman was successfully pulled out of the water and rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Sonepur. Hospital sources said her condition is stable and she is under medical observation.
