Low Pressure Area Forms Over Bay of Bengal, Heavy Rain Likely Across Odisha
India, July 2 -- A low pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha and West Bengal coasts, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
According to the IMD, the low pressure area developed at 3 am UTC (8.30 am IST) on July 2 under the influence of a cyclonic circulation that had persisted over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining north Odisha coast since Wednesday.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level and tilts southwestwards with height, the weather agency said.
The IMD has predicted that the weather system is likely to become more marked during the next two to three days.
