India, Aug. 16 -- Gold and silver jewellery worth over Rs 50 lakh, allegedly stolen from a jewellery shop in Chhattisgarh, were recovered from Sorada area in Odisha's Ganjam district, police said.

According to police, four persons from Sorada had allegedly stolen the ornaments from a jewellery shop in the Sitapur area of Chhattisgarh in July this year. Following information received from the Chhattisgarh Police, a special team was formed under the leadership of Aska SDPO Saurabh Ranjan Pradhan to trace the stolen ornaments.

The police team recovered around 300 grams of gold jewellery and 1 kilogram of silver ornaments from a slum in Sorada area.

However, the accused persons managed to flee before the police could apprehend them. The ...
