India, Aug. 18 -- All schools in Odisha's Sundargarh were closed today as heavy rainfall has been lashing the district since Monday evening.

The India Meteorological Department has issued a weather warning for the district amid the continuing rainfall. Taking the safety of students into consideration, the administration has declared a holiday for all schools in Sundargarh district.

The holiday order was issued on the direction of the Sundargarh Collector. District Education Officer issued the official notification regarding the closure.

The decision has been taken as a precautionary measure in view of the persistent rain and the weather warning issued for the district.
