India, May 2 -- Two persons, including a former Sarpanch, were arrested in connection with an attack on a police team in Odisha's Nuapada district yesterday.
The arrested have been identified as Vrindaban Mahanand and Mahendra Jagat of Dumerbahal village under Komna police limits in Nuapada. Mahanand is a former Sarpanch of Konabira gram panchayat, reports said.
As per reports, a team of Komna police, led by Sub-Inspectors (SIs) Minati Badnayak and Rajanikant Dep, visited Dumerbahal on Friday to investigate a case.
The former Sarpanch, his son Pasa Mahanand and villager Mahendra Jagat allegedly attacked the police team following a brief argument over some issues. Two police personnel sustained injuries in the attack, reports said.
