India, March 17 -- Serious fire safety concerns have come to light at the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla of Odisha's Sambalpur district amid the recent SCB Hospital fire mishap.

According to reports, the hospital does not have a valid fire safety certificate for most of its buildings. Only the super speciality block has received the required certification, while older buildings continue to function without proper fire safety clearance.

The risk of fire mishap is significantly higher in older structures due to open electrical wiring. In several departments, electric cables are reportedly in a hazardous condition, increasing the chances of short circuits and fire-related accidents.
