India, Aug. 31 -- An emotional letter detailing financial hardship and mounting debt left authorities and officials deeply moved after it was found in one of the donation boxes of the famous Maa Majhighariani Temple in Rayagada during the latest counting of offerings.

The letter was reportedly written by a devotee from neighbouring Koraput district who, overwhelmed by financial difficulties and heavy debt, turned to the presiding deity seeking relief from his troubles.

Radhakrushna Dalai, a member of the temple management committee, said the letter was discovered during the counting of offerings collected from the temple's nine hundis on Monday.
