India, July 20 -- A doctor on duty at the Bargarh Community health Centre (CHC) sustained serious head injuries after he was allegedly attacked by a patient on Monday, triggering concern over the safety of healthcare professionals.

The injured doctor, Dr. Sudipt Rout, was reportedly examining patients when the accused, identified as Vicky Singh, a resident of Ward No. 14, Bargarh town, arrived at the health centre for treatment.

According to preliminary reports, an intoxicated youth allegedly became aggressive during a routine blood pressure (BP) check and suddenly assaulted the doctor.
