Cordon passes to be halved for smooth Rath Yatra: Odisha Minister
India, July 8 -- The state government is making all arrangements for smooth organisation of Lord Jagannath's Rath Yatra in Odisha's Puri city.
The authorities will issue comparatively less number of cordon passes and vehicle passes to avoid unnecessary congregation near the three chariots. This was revealed by Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan today.
"Extensive preparations are underway to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of this year's Rath Yatra. Compared to last year, the number of cordon passes will be reduced by 50 percent, while vehicle passes will also be significantly curtailed. The movement of VVIPs during the festival will be kept to a minimum to facilitate better crowd management," said the minister.
