India, June 19 -- A school headmaster, who was deployed to work as a Booth Level Officer (BLO) for the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, allegedly died by suicide in Odisha's Boudh district on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Sayan Sahoo, the headmaster of Dimirikhol school.

Sahu allegedly ended his life by consuming poison. On being informed, the police seized the body and sent it for postmortem before launching a probe into the incident.

However, the headmaster's family members have claimed that he was under severe mental stress due to the SIR responsibilities.
