India, Aug. 24 -- Continuous rainfall has triggered a rise in water levels in the Indravati and Bhaskel rivers in Kosagumuda block of Odisha's Nabarangpur district, leaving around 1,500 people stranded in two riverside villages.

The residents of Kantasharguda and Ghatwaliguda have been cut off from the outside world following a sharp rise in the Indravati River water level last night.

Villagers said that no administrative officials had reached the affected areas so far. They have expressed concern over the situation as the rising water has disrupted communication with the two villages.
