'NAMASTE Day': Odisha to honour 'Safai Mitras', promote mechanised sanitation
India, July 10 -- The Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department has directed all Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in Odisha to celebrate 'NAMASTE Day' on July 14 to honour the invaluable contribution of Safai Mitras (sanitation staff) and strengthen the adoption of safe and mechanised sanitation practices.
The observance is being organised in line with the initiative of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment (MoSJE) and the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) under the National Action for Mechanised Sanitation Ecosystem (NAMASTE).
