India, Aug. 13 -- Zoetis Inc. (ZTS) announced that the U.S. FDA has granted Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Simparica Trio (sarolaner, moxidectin, and pyrantel chewable tablets) to treat infestations caused by New World screwworm lavae (Cochliomyia hominivorax) in dogs and puppies.
About the Condition
New World screwworm larvae feed on living tissue in animals, including livestock, wildlife, and pets, causing severe damage, pain, and even death if untreated. Recent outbreaks have prompted several states to issue orders requiring treatment of domestic animals moving across borders from infested areas.
