India, Aug. 17 -- The Japanese yen weakened against other major currencies in the European session on Monday, as the Bank of Japan's tightening plans have been called into question by weaker-than-expected Japanese GDP numbers.

Data from the Cabinet Office showed that the Japan's gross domestic product expanded a seasonally adjusted 0.3 percent on quarter in the second quarter of 2026. That missed forecasts for a gain of 0.5 percent, which would have been unchanged.
