India, Oct. 19 -- XBiotech Inc. (XBIT), a biotechnology company developing therapeutic antibodies, announced positive final efficacy results from the Phase 2 portion of the investigator-sponsored TASKIN trial evaluating vilamakitug (Natrunix, XB2001) in patients with refractory metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC).
The trial evaluated vilamakitug, an anti-interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1a) monoclonal antibody, in combination with standard-of-care trifluridine/tipiracil, with or without bevacizumab, compared with placebo plus standard treatment.
The study met its prespecified primary efficacy criterion, with 49 of 80 evaluable patients (61.3%) in the vilamakitug arm alive at 12 months, compared with 44 of 79 patients (55.7%) in the control arm.
